OFF-SITE PRESENTATIONS

Educators from the CRRA Trash Museum are available for off-site presentations, as time permits. CRRA educators present programs and workshops to civic organizations and at schools, science fairs and community celebrations.

Call the CRRA Trash Museum at (860) 757-7765 to discuss the possibility of an off-site presentation. We aim to educate in an entertaining and age-appropriate way!

CRRA TRASH MUSEUM OUTREACH PROGRAMS

 “Bin Busters” Assembly
Grade Levels K-8

Students become skilled at curbside recycling “do’s and don’ts” in an educator-led game format. Each team makes choices of whether or not items belong in the recycling bin. All students are winners in this fun and engaging program.

Duration: 30-45 minutes
Science Standards: 3.3, 3.4, 4.2

“Bin Basics” Classroom Plastics Program
Grade Levels Pre-K - 2

In this hands-on activity, students discover how to become recycling detectives. Using magnifying lenses, the children locate recycling codes on a variety of plastic containers and sort them into the proper place.
 
Duration: 20-30 minutes
Math Standards: 3.1, 3.2
Science Standard: K.1

“Rock, Paper, Recycling” Classroom Resource Program
Grade Levels 2 – 5

This lesson engages the students in a recycling discussion which enables them to make the connection between recycling and how it helps conserve natural resources. Incorporating movement and higher-level thinking skills, the students match recyclables and the resources used to manufacture them.

Duration: 30-45 minutes
Science Standards: 2.3, 3.3, 3.4

Trash Museum in-class/off-site assembly programs held in non-Mid-Connecticut Project towns (there is no charge for Trash Museum programs held in Mid-Connecticut Project towns):

FAMILY FUN DAYS

The CRRA Trash Museum schedules two to three Family Fun Days on selected Saturdays throughout the year. On Family Fun Day, the general public is welcome without any pre-registration. Educators organize tours and activities throughout the day and visitors can enjoy the exhibits independently as well.
